Our frequent viewers will remember the lovely talk with Alankrita Shrivastava last year. In this new conversation we will focus on her recent creation: The Series “Bombay Begums” which started on the international Women’s Day (8th of March 2021) as a worldwide Netflix release.
Set in contemporary urban India, five women, across generations, wrestle with desire, ethics, personal crises and vulnerabilities to own their ambition.
Starring Pooja Bhatt as “Rani” CEO of Royal Bank. A character which stays and acts for women empowerment. Similar to her personal and professional life in which Pooja speaks and stands up for women rights and against patriarchy.
Born into a family of directors, producers and actors – Pooja started her career in the age of 17 and won a Filmfare Award in the category “New Face of the Year” for her acting in the Movie “Daddy”. In the following two decades Pooja Bhatt acted in many successful Bollywood Movies and Blockbusters. Later on Pooja turned into the producing and directing of films, picking awards for her work as a producer on the films “Tamanna” and “Zakhm”.
Bombay Begums marks her comeback into acting. If you have watched “Bombay Begums” you will agree that it marks a quite strong comeback. Maybe the time is right now for Pooja Bhatt to earn some more awards for her strong performance in the series.
