With its core theme „Women in Indian Society“ the 6th edition of IndoGerman Filmweek will screenmore than 40 films in different Genres and various Indian Languages all with english subtitles.

„Gold“ will be the opening film on 16th of August 2018. After a reception at 19:00h with the opening of the art exhibition „Women in Indian Cinema“ with pictures by Allen Shaw, the opening program will start at 19:30h in the prescence of her excellency Mrs. Mukta Dutta Tomar, international guests and filmmakers. Director Reema Kagti and actor Akshay Kumar will be present on the big screen and will give welcome adresses at the opening via video chat.

Actress Tannishtha Chatterjee will be our guest in Berlin with a German premiere of Dr. Rakmabhai. She is playing the lead role of Dr. Rakhmabhai and will host a Q&A and Meet and Greet after the film on Friday evening, 17th of August 2018.

There will be free entrance for all framwork program which is organized by AMIKAL e.V.. Themes are Music in Indian Films, Healing around Ayuverda und Yoga, as well as how to get and wear a Sari. We will have a Bangra-Workshop and a concert of „The Tapi Project“ on Saturday, 18. August at 22:00h,thanks to the kind support of Tagore Instituts and Indian Embassy. Furthermore we will screen thesilent film „Shiraz“ at Silent Film at Midnight on Saturday, 18th of August.

We will screen 15 German Premieres amongst that the European-Premiere of „Noblemen“ in presence of director Vandana Kataria, German Premieres of „The extraordinary Journey of the Fakir“,„T for Taj Mahal“, „Sudani from Nigeria“, „Vikram Vedha“, „3 Storeys“ in presence of producer Priya Sreedharan and the director Arjun Mukerjee, „Song of Scorpions“ in presence of the director Anup Singh, „Bombay Velvet“, „Shubh Mangal Saavdhan“, „Aruvi“ and „Tumhari Sulu“ in presence of the director Suresh Triveni. As Berlin-Premieres will be shown: „Mukabaaz“, „Love and Shukla“ und„Shab“ from Onir.

For the first time we have also three short film programs in a total length of approx. 100 Min. each. Besides the already mentioned Tamil Films we will have two recent Telugu Films („Geetha Govindam“ and „Srinivasa Kalyanam“) and one Film in Kannada Language. „Sudani from Nigeria“ is afilm in Malayam Language.

The festival will screen films such as Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, Hichki and much more in a second run.

Festival-Pass: 50 Euro / 5 Ticket-Pack: 25 Euro / Babylon-T-Shirt: 20 Euro once for the T-Shirt & every ticket will be 4 Euro only (plus extra if extra length) / Regular Ticket: gr.
